Terms of Service

What you're buying

A Room Key is a one-time purchase. It opens one private Burner Room for two people: you (the owner) and the one guest you invite. There is no subscription, no account, and no renewal. The price shown at checkout is the whole price.

Your keys

Your Owner Key is shown exactly once, immediately after purchase. Until you collect it, we hold an encrypted copy so that we can hand it to you: that copy exists from the moment your payment completes until you collect it or 24 hours pass, whichever comes first, and it is deleted the instant you collect it. After that point Burner Room cannot recover, reset, or replace a lost Owner Key, and cannot reissue one that was never collected — not as a limitation, but by design: we no longer keep anything that could reproduce it. Anyone holding a valid Guest Key may be able to enter the room, so share guest access only with people you trust.

Guests, and what revoking one costs

One guest at a time. Revoking a guest deletes the room and its messages from our servers and signs both of you out. It cannot reach the other person's device — anything already saved in their browser remains there. Your Owner Key stays valid: open a new room and issue a new Guest Key whenever you want.

Rooms are temporary

A room can be given a lifetime when it is opened, and the owner can destroy a room at any time. Messages disappear according to message and room settings. When a room ends, its contents are deleted from our servers and cannot be restored by us or by you. Whatever either of you had already saved on your own device stays on that device. Disappearance is the product working as intended, not a defect.

Payments

Payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We never see or store your card details, and your payment identity is not used as your room identity. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under applicable consumer law, including the Australian Consumer Law.

Acceptable use

Don't use Burner Room for unlawful activity. We may refuse or discontinue service where the law requires us to.

The service, as it is

Burner Room is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded, and our liability is limited to the amount you paid for your Room Key. How the product protects a conversation is described on the security page.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page is the one that applies.
